Community, Cats and Care
Owning a cat can be challenging at times, for lots of reasons. Some of them might relate to the cat’s behaviour or wellbeing, others might be more to do with whatever’s going on in our own lives at the time.
We’re here to help, so that no one has to give up a loved family pet for a reason that could have been avoided.
How We Can Help
Quite often, we sadly see owners having to give up their loved family pet for reasons that, with a little help, support or advice at the right time, could be avoided.
Our Community, Cats and Care project wants to prevent that from happening whenever possible, by helping people easily access support and advice about all things cat-related in their local area.
To do this, we have a team of fantastic volunteer Community Cat Champions who can provide basic cat care advice and also point you in the right direction for further support if it’s needed and available, including:
- Cat care and behaviour advice
- Support towards the cost of neutering and microchipping your cat
- Cat food and equipment, including cat carriers, via local foodbanks
- Helping you to access your local vet
- Support looking after your cat or getting them to the vets for people with mobility issues
Anyone can get in touch with their local Community Cat Champion if they need help and advice about their cats’ care or behaviour.
A Team On Your Doorstep
Community Cat Champions are local volunteers who know their area and know cats. They’re the first friendly point of contact when something isn’t right, whether that’s a behaviour that’s appeared out of nowhere, a vet bill you’re worried about, or simply not being sure where to start.
“As a group of local charities with limited resources working together, we can’t guarantee that all the support will always be available and some may have eligibility restrictions, but we will do our best to help you access the help you need.”
