It’s been a busy start to the year here at The Sheffield Cats Shelter, so now that spring is approaching it’s time to update you on our latest news.
Our shelter continues to be full of beautiful cats to adopt, but whilst we’ll soon be springing into kitten season we thought it was time to focus on our senior catizens. They may have a few years under their belt, but our golden oldies are as beautiful as ever and still have a lot of love to give to a new owner. Older cats can bring lots of advantages: they are often calmer than young cats and like the simple pleasures in life such as a good meal, a cat nap or two and relaxing in the lap of their beloved owner.
Over the next week we’ll be featuring some of our older cats on our Facebook and Instagram pages; could you be the person to give them their perfect, loving retirement home? It’s an incredibly rewarding experience for cat and human alike.
Talking of which, we have some great news to share! You may have seen Frankie and Dino on our website? That’s them up above, after we’ve added them to a suitably spring-like image. These 17 year old siblings were the oldest cats in our shelter, but they’ve now been adopted and have moved into their forever home! They’re full of character and full of love, and we know that they’re going to bring lots of joy to their new home.
There’s some good news on the shop front as well. Our Hillsborough shop was sadly targeted by criminals again earlier this year, but we’re pleased to say it’s now open again and once more raising funds for our wonderful shelter! If you have good quality items that you’d like to donate, then our shops at Hillsborough and Ecclesall Road would love to have them, or simply pop along for a shop and grab yourself a bargain. It’s all for a purrfect cause!
The year is well underway now, and what a special year it is for us! 2022 marks the 125th anniversary of The Sheffield Cats Shelter; that’s right, we were founded way back in 1897 by cat loving philanthropist Jane Barker, and we’re still continuing her vital work today. That makes us one of the oldest cat shelters in the United Kingdom, and we’ll be celebrating this special anniversary in style. Keep your eyes peeled for news of our upcoming celebrations and events.
