Recovery Tails – Day 9 – Bonno
December 17, 2024

Bonno’s story is one of a condition that can be managed, but it sometimes scares people when their pet is diagnosed with it.

Lovely Bonno was put on our waiting list for rehoming, and when we admitted him, we were told he had been diagnosed with megacolon. Simply put megacolon causes constipation and blockages in the bowels – due to an enlarged colon and lack of adequate contraction of the muscles in the bowel. With adequate medication and sometimes a change in diet, this condition can usually be managed.

We took Bonno to our vets for a check and to ensure we were doing everything Bonno needed us to do.
We altered his meds slightly and changed up his diet a little, and hey presto, regular poops and a happy cat!

Bonno waited the best part of 6 months for his new home (even spending last Christmas with us!) despite being one of the friendliest, cuddliest and most handsome cats we’ve ever cared for! Also one of the smartest…he bossed our puzzle feeder challenge earlier in the year! Now though, he is well settled into his forever home and is enjoying his new life.

Overall, Bonno’s vet costs equalled £1360

Recovery Tails Christmas Campaign

This Christmas, please help to raise £10,000 to help us care for and heal cats like Bonno and keep this crucial work going. Your support will help to pay for vet treatment, special foods and medication for all the cats and kittens who arrive in the Shelter sick and in need of a warm bed this winter.
